RF ONLINE ECONOMY FIX

After the solution to the recent gold dupe was implemented a few days ago and banned majority of those who did it, we began to review the overall damage on the game economy that this hack caused.

Based on DB evidence, numbers as well as feedback from the community, the GMs, the Vanguards and also from our field agents, there was an oversupply of in-game currency and gold - as high as 500%. This simply means that items were overpriced and most players had too much cash.

We all know that the in-game economy and inflation plays a huge part in the success and integrity of the game. This also makes it unfair to everyone since the value of rare items diminishes the longer the economy is left in shambles.

We then conducted a feasibility analysis if manual economy and server restoration plans were still feasible. We found out that they would no longer work within a realistic time frame. The damage done was too great, and according to estimates, manual restoration of server economies could take up to a year.

Our objective is to maintain game balance for all servers and for all races. As the RF Online Philippines' publisher, we made a promise to the players that we would ensure that they have a game that they could enjoy. Rest assured that an option to rollback was the last thing on our list but, upon a long and thorough analysis, and consultation with the developers, we decided that this is in the best interest of the game and the community.

Hence, we are doing an emergency maintenance today, May 30, 2008 (started 1pm) to do the following

• Rollback all character data to May 23, 2008 4am – This means that all EXP, levels gained, upgrades, UTS, Chip War states, trades, etc will be reverted to that date and time.
• Galactic Credits – All GC consumed during the rollback period will be returned. This will be processed on Monday, June 2, 2008. All unconsumed, converted top ups into GCs will not be affected by the rollback.
• Banned List – the DB for banned characters as of today, May 30, 2008 WILL NOT be rolled back.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Upon going back online from this long maintenance (possibly around 9 hours), we shall give the following as compensation:

• FREE 14 Days Premium Subscription to everyone – If you still have Premium days left, this shall be added to your total.
• 5 Jades of Abundance, 14 Days duration - boosting EXP by +50%
  • This will be inserted to characters of an account (assuming that the account is qualified for compensation, see below)

QUALIFICATION FOR COMPENSATION

• Your account must be active and have logged in at least once from
  • May 23, 2008 4:00 am to May 30, 2008 11:30 am

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Trust us, this was not an easy decision even for us.

There are still a lot to be expected for RF Online, from future patches (higher level caps, Space War, and so on) to even more exciting events. The game would not be able to support these endeavors if the server economies were not restored.

In the long run, RF Online will be a better game since there still is an “equal playing field”, the economies are stable and we were able to fix a major game exploit.

We have you, our dear community, to thank for this. From your vigilance, to your great suggestions on the forums and from iRL talks, we (both Level Up and CCR) are now aware of the other problems that we have to fix. Those are already in the pipeline and solutions are being designed. But that’s another long story.

In the meantime, we thank all our players for the continued loyalty and support that they have shown for RF Online, which is the reason that makes us strive to work hard to serve you even better.
