Armory 213, Novus.

The battleground for the Novus Elite Squad Tournament (NEST), high up in the mountains and cliffs surrounding Armory 213, was prepped up for the contest. The sand was combed, the barriers were set up at the edges of the cliff, and lights were put up just in case the battle would reach night time.

Two races were scheduled to battle one another and compete for the much-coveted NEST Battle Chip. This year, it would be a battle between two champions of two different competitions – the City Under Siege (CUS), and the Novus Chip Assault Squad (NCAS). CUS was a competition held across the nation – pitting different squads against one another from different areas of the archipelago, while NCAS was a battle between the best chip-breaking guilds in Novus.

At around 2100H Novus, the players were summoned to their respective starting positions. With Corites being represented by “Ineffable,” and the Bellato Union’s banner being held by “Demonz,” one could be assured that the battle will be intense and heart-stopping.

The battle started with both teams charging towards the center. For Demonz, the BMAUs were in front, acting as tanks while the mages and rangers dealt damage from afar. Ineffable started their attack in an oddly fashion. One would usually see Corites blazing their high-level Isis to deal massive damage, but Ineffable’s summoners were utilizing Hecate. This proved to be a useful tactic as the Bellato were caught in stunning splash damage while the Corite mages rained simultaneous Area-Of-Effect spells on their opponent. The tactic caught the Bellato, and the spectators, by surprise, and one-by-one the competitors from Demonz were dropping to the floor until they were all wiped out.

The second round proved to be the same, but it was also more exciting. This time, Demonz sent their Black MAUs charging and throwing a net towards a Corite, while the others focused fire on the stationary target. Corites starting flopping to the floor, and on-screen, it seemed like the Bellato were winning. As the battle enraged, and the spectators looked on, they could see 2 Black MAUs focusing fire on a Corite Zealot. Then, one exploded, and the second one followed 2 seconds after. Team Ineffable wins the second round.

It became a do-or-die situation for Demonz and they gave it all in the 3^rd round. They started with the upper hand again, but the Ineffable’s synchronized attacks proved to be overwhelming.

It was a hard-fought battle between the two champions. Congratulations are in order for the two teams, Ineffable and Demonz for that display of teamwork and intensity. After the dust settled, the Corites from Cagayan De Oro emerged victorious, and claimed the title as the 2007 NEST champions!
